The research team from the LERMAB laboratory at Longwy’s IUT Henri Poincaré was actively present in Nouakchott (Mauritania) from November 15 to 17, 2023, at the 10th edition of the international colloquium Energie et Ville du Futur (EVF), for which it is a partner.
The EVF colloquium was created in partnership between the University of Lorraine, ECAM – EPMI Cergy Pontoise and Queens University in 2013, with its first edition in 2014 in Cergy Pontoise and in Longwy in 2017. Traveling through Morocco, Canada and India, and each time drawing inspiration from a local context, the series has acquired a solid basis for thinking about an integrated approach to the city of tomorrow.
The city of the future
The edition of Nouakchott in Mauritania took a fair and balanced picture of a dynamic city in full horizontal expansion, and provided some answers to the question of whether the city of the future should be vertical or horizontal.
