Canada has been ravaged by major wildfires since the beginning of May, with over 400 currently burning across the country. The most virulent are in Quebec, where mega-fires are releasing an orange haze that envelops several major Canadian cities, reaching as far as New York. Canada is faced with extreme weather events whose intensity and frequency are increased by climate change. Anthony Collin, deputy director of the CNRS “Fires” research group, explains.
