As part of LEMTA’s 50th anniversary celebrations, the laboratory is delighted to welcome Sébastien Candel, who will be giving a talk for the general public entitled:
“Current research in aeronautical propulsion and prospects for electric and hydrogen-powered aircraft”.
During this conference, Sébastien Candel will share his knowledge and experience, highlighting the challenges facing engineers and researchers in the field of aeronautical propulsion.
Reducing greenhouse gas emissions is a major challenge that requires the transition to low-carbon energies. Aviation, responsible for 3% of global emissions, is aiming for carbon neutrality by 2050. Two main options are emerging: continuous improvement of propulsion and structures to reduce fuel consumption, and the adoption of sustainable fuels from renewable sources. Revolutionary concepts such as electric and/or hydrogen-powered aircraft are also being explored.
