To mark March 8, International Women’s Day, we take a closer look at Natacha Darmet, a CNRS researcher in experimental thermal engineering.
Can you tell us about your career path?
I studied engineering at Polytech Marseille, in the Mechanical Engineering department, with an Erasmus semester at the Karlsruher Institut für Technologie (KIT) in Germany.
My first experiences in research, first in Marseille and then at the CEA in Saclay, confirmed my desire to continue in this field. I then completed a thesis at CEA-LITEN in Grenoble, an innovation laboratory for new energy technologies and new materials.
My work focused on assessing the risk of thermal runaway propagation in battery modules. I developed and adapted experimental methods to identify the key parameters responsible for this propagation.
