The LabCom program, launched by the ANR in 2013, aims to support academic researchers in the co-construction of joint laboratories with companies in order to encourage the creation of lasting partnerships and promote the development of knowledge and know-how that will lead to innovation. Here is an update on the program’s specific features and benefits for the 2021 edition.

What are the characteristics of a LabCom?

A LabCom brings together a laboratory from a research institution or organization and a French company (a small business, SME or ETI1). It is characterized by a common governance allowing the integrated operation of academic and industrial teams, by a roadmap of activities to be carried out, by a common strategy of work valorization, by a predefined agreement of sharing of the intellectual property, and by a strategy of durability of the collaboration. The pooling of the contributions of the research institution (research capabilities, equipment, etc.) and the company (research capabilities, market knowledge, etc.) aims to stimulate the creation of value beneficial to both partners.
